As offshore wind turbines scale beyond 13MW, with hub heights exceeding 140m, major component exchange has become a significant logistical and financial challenge. New purpose-built WTIVs are scarce, costly, and often unavailable for time-sensitive repair work, while existing jack-ups are too small due to crane reach restrictions.
Introducing WS-150 — a WindSpider system that enables +50% cost savings for end-clients, related to MCR of +13MW wind turbines

The solution
Developed by WindSpider, the WS-150 is a smarter and cheaper alternative that unlocks the potential of existing jack-up vessels — extending their reach & relevance and ensuring timely turbine repairs, reduced downtime and optimized energy yield.
The benefits of WS-150
WS-150 is a low-cost solution for blade & nacelle component exchange on +13MW wind turbines and offers multiple competitive advantages:
• WS-150 offers a cheaper solution to MCR on tall turbines in comparison to the newest high-spec WTIVs with day rates at EUR ~350 000.
• WS-150 extends life of older and less expensive jack-ups, not able to service turbines with 140m hub height without the WS-150 System.
• By offering an alternative to new WTIVs (with low availability, occupied with long term installation work) WS-150 reduces cost caused by loss of production for wind farm operators.

About WindSpider
WindSpider is offering an innovative lifting solution for installation and major component replacement of wind turbines, onshore and offshore. The self-erecting solution, which uses the turbine tower as support, has several attractive features, including eliminating relative motion between crane and wind turbine, no turbine weight or height restrictions, compatibility with floating vessels and barges, and good operability at windy sites. With an effective lifting capacity of +1500 metric tons, WindSpider solves some of the biggest issues in the wind industry and is prepared for the next generations of wind turbines at a substantially lower cost.
