DNV Statement of Feasibility for the WS-150 System
March 5, 2026
WindSpider has received the Statement of Feasibility from DNV, marking a key milestone in the technology qualification process for the
WS-150 System.
The WS‑150 is engineered specifically for major component replacement (MCR) and service operations on +13 MW offshore wind turbines, addressing one of the most critical challenges facing next‑generation offshore wind assets: safe, cost‑efficient and precise service operations.
The Statement of Feasibility confirms that the WS‑150 concept is technically sound and feasible for further development, and it marks the successful conclusion of an important stage in the qualification process followed in accordance with DNV-RP-A203 (Technology Qualification, September 2019).
“This achievement reflects the strong work of the WindSpider team, the input and support from our partners, collaborators, and advisors, and the cooperation with DNV” says the WindSpider CEO, Kent Lynggaard Vinkel.
With feasibility confirmed, WindSpider will now proceed to the next stage in DNV’s Technology Qualification process: Endorsement of the Qualification Plan, which will define the activities leading to building and validation of the 1st WS-150 Unit.
The solution
Developed by WindSpider, the WS-150 is a smarter and cheaper alternative that unlocks the potential of existing jack-up vessels — extending their reach & relevance and ensuring timely turbine repairs, reduced downtime and optimized energy yield.

About WindSpider
WindSpider is offering an innovative lifting solution for installation and major component replacement of wind turbines, onshore and offshore. The self-erecting solution, which uses the turbine tower as support, has several attractive features, including eliminating relative motion between crane and wind turbine, no turbine weight or height restrictions, compatibility with floating vessels and barges, and good operability at windy sites. With an effective lifting capacity of +1500 metric tons (installation system), WindSpider solves some of the biggest issues in the wind industry and is prepared for the next generations of wind turbines at a substantially lower cost.
